TITEBOND ACOUSTICAL SMOKE & SOUND SEALANT

Titebond Acoustical Smoke & Sound Sealant is a professional-quality sealant designed to improve STC (Sound Transmission Class) ratings in wall and floor systems. It tools easily, is paintable, mold and mildew resistant, remains flexible and will not become hard or brittle with age. This plasticizer-free, VOC-compliant, nonflammable formula is environmentally safe.

Application Guidelines

  • Caulks & Sealants Calculators: Click to calculate the right amount of Titebond caulk or sealant.
  • Application Temperature: Above 40°F (4°C)
  • Service Temperature Range: -20°F to 150°F (-29°C to 66°C)
  • Method of Application: Cartridge/caulking gun
  • Working Time: Approximately 10-15 minutes for 1/4" bead
  • Application Directions: 1. Surfaces must be clean and free of any material that may prevent adequate adhesion. 2. Cut nozzle to desired bead size. 3. Puncture foil seal and place in cartridge gun. 4. Apply sealant underneath all runners at the ceiling and floor. 5. Sealant should also be applied to all openings including cutouts, electrical boxes, perimeter joints and other areas where sound transmission and air infiltration may occur. No tooling is required. It is the sole responsibility of the user to thoroughly test any proposed use with all substrates to determine project suitability.
  • Cleanup: Clean uncured material with water. After curing, excess sealant must be cut or scraped away.

Note: Taken from ASTM C919. The test partitions of metal studs 610 mm (24 in.) on center, with double layers of 13 mm (0.5 in.) wallboard screw-attached to each side. Sound attenuation blanket, 38 mm (1.5 in.), was placed in the void. The partition panels were erected, shimmed out 3mm (0.125 in.) at the periphery: top, bottom, and edges.

Limitations
